Have you ever noticed how the language of we use in photography—shoot, capture, take—is needlessly aggressive? This is my exploration of how words shape the subconscious, and the why behind my refusal to accept industry standard. “I Will Never Shoot You” is both a reflection and a promise.

Spoiler alert: I’m not referring to the horrific yet also hilarious rendering of too many fingers on human hands.

I encourage you to adopt a conversational mindset regarding your selections. If you are the voice of your business, your wardrobe sets tone.

Crossed arms are a common pose in professional photos, often seen as confident and strong. But this body language can also signal defensiveness, discomfort, or lack of openness. For business owners, that can create the wrong impression and turn potential clients away. Instead, using open, natural poses helps communicate approachability and trust. Small changes in posture and energy can make a big difference in how your brand is perceived.
